Abstract
During the last decade in Argentina, important macroeconomic developments have been recognized, which have resulted in improvements in household incomes and integration into the labour world. Likewise, the State and society made substantive progress in the recognition of rights and implementation of social protection policies for children. In this context, we ask: to what extent the processes of socialization were permeable to such progress and in what aspects still exist deep social inequalities? The approach to the multiple forms of socialization in childhood was developed through the study of four cases of children between 11 and 12 years of age enrolled in public schools, belonging to homes of dissimilar socio-educational and socio-residential level. The four children were in-depth interviewed in their homes, as were records of direct observation of the contexts. In this sense, the analysis of the data, reflected inequalities in the opportunities of socialization of the children, that represent a reflection of the deep persistent social inequalities in our country.
